The 4 different types of film openings are title on a blank screen, title on animation, title on still image and title on moving image.
Title on blank screen
When this film opening is shown there is usually a black screen and white writing over it. It is a simple way to have a film opening because it is low budget and usually shown just to give the audience info on the crew.
Title on animation
In the late 1990's, animated text that were used in title sequences became popular. The titles became part of the moving image themselves and integrated together with the moving images. But with this title sequence a lot of digital technology and styled editing has to be used.
Title on still image
This title sequence shows images rather than a black background. This title sequence shows the audience what genre the film is from the type of background. With this title sequence, studios started to develop more story based sequences and recognised there contribution to the film.
Title on moving image
This title sequence has moving images in the background while the title and the credits will be showing. Some title sequences with moving images will either have music being played over it or have a narrator over it.
