10: What is Genre

Definitions
Genre: a category of artistic, musical or literary composition characterised by a particular style, form or content.

Sub-genre: a subdivision of a genre of literature, music or film.

Hybrid genre: a genre in fiction that blends themes and elements from two or more genres.

Codes and conventions: system of sings put together to create meaning. Habits or long accepted ways of doing things. 

Genre tropes: a familiar or repeated symbol

Conventions of genre you most like: everyday people exaggerated, slapstick comedy, everyday settings
