8: My favourite film: The Mark Of Cain

The Mark Of Cain

The beginning of the title sequence has a yellowish glow and then moves on to someone rubbing their hands and swinging a chain with the same gritty look. The sound is a mixture of some middle eastern sounding music to represent the Iraq war and along with the image of and falling sand on to the man and him panting in panic while he is trying to rub the sand of his body is a metaphor for post traumatic stress disorder which plays a big role in the movie, but for the audience that have not seen the movies this title sequence is a discreet one as it may be hard to understand until further in the movie where they will go, 'ahhh' as they realise the significance of the title sequence. The colour of the text matches the the colour theme of sand and the title sequence is engaging due to the mixture of sound and imagery.
