Rough Cut Evaluation
We think that the rough cut went well and that the order of the shots make sense, however after watching the whole sequence we realised we missed some shots out and need to film these after the Christmas holidays.
Does the order of shots make sense
The order of shots were not completely how we planned but even better than we thought. We changed the speed of some shots to replicate that of collateral as this is where we got the idea of most of our sequence.
Quality of the camera work
For the most part the camera work was decent but there was a few shots that were shaky, for example, the second establishing shot was shaky. But we fixed them with warp stabilisation effect. This helped prevent too much movement in the camera which would be bad for our sequence.
Variety of shot types
We used a variety of shot types that developed the sequence from being simplistic to more complex which helped create a suspenseful atmosphere, some of the shots we used included, Over the shoulder, POV, close ups, medium shots, long shots, we also used some panning shots for the establishing shots and towards the ending.
Use of lighting
For our shoot, we made sure that the lighting was the same as it was a key in setting the atmosphere, apart from this we only used natural lighting. Lighting was important as most thriller films are done in the dark but we wanted to change this because it would set the scene more as we were near a canal so it would be expected that it would be light.
Performance of the characters
At first we see him walking in a way to make him look like the bad guy but once you see him bump into the mysterious character we can start to tell that the mysterious guy is bad.
Investigator
As a whole i think the investigator role was played well and that i stayed in character, i do think however that i could have changed my facial expression more to help build tension and suspense.
Mysterious guy
I felt that the mysterious character did a good job playing the role of the villain, but trying to hide it. If i could change anything, it would be the facial expressions.
The use of mise-en-sense with locations, setting and props and costumes
For locations and settings, regents canal was a good choice, at first we wanted to film in an alleyway but realised it is too cliche and we found a dark tunnel that would help. As a whole the canal was better as of a lot of thriller films do it in alleyways and we did not want to follow the same cliche.
For props an costumes, we used two notebooks and headphones. The notebooks were to represent each characters writing and when they clash they swap notebooks and this is when the investigator sees what was inside it and it becomes more obvious to the audience who is good and who is bad. The investigator wore casual smart clothing because he was meant to be the good guy, the mysterious guy wore all black clothing because he was meant to represent the villain.

Evidence of filming 2
Today we went out to the Regents Canals to finish filming. We went over there and got some over the shoulder shots, pov shots and some close ups. We did most of the important shots where we see the two characters collide. We also got some walking scenes that we had to do and also redone the killer sitting down. This picture is of all the shots that we got.
This picture is proof of us putting it into our video drive.

Evidence of filming: 1
Our first filming session was doing some practice shots because the area of the canal that we wanted to film was blocked off. This interrupted with our filming schedule and as a result we plan to film more.
Although we could not film as we planned to today we still got some practice shots that we may consider using in the final sequence.
The shots that we deemed as unusable were mostly because of the camera shaking too much.
Some examples of these are:
However we did find that some of the shots were useable.
Some examples of the good shots are:
We also edited our practice shots to look at what we had and here is a preview:
We also went onto bensound to find some music as we wanted to use ayncrnous sound to fool the audience. that is what is heard in the preview.

Pitch evaluation
The main pieces of feedback from our pitch is that I need to add the credit titles to the storyboard and add more detail to the audience profile.
Feedback for the pitch tasks:
Task 5: I needed to add more reasoning for why I chose the age group. I ended up changing the age group to younger adults.
Task 7: I need to get photos of the costumes that the investigator and murderer are going to wear during the shoot.
Task 8: I will have to make the water sound more like a canal or have no water sound effect at all. For the music we are possibly going to add a suspenseful score in the background to add to the thriller feel. We are going to uses ambient sounds whenever the murderer is in the shot to make it feel like there is something not quiet right about the character.
Task 10: Credit titles need to be added to the storyboard. We are going to do more establishing shots at the beginning of the film and also try to experiment with showing the murderer in a more abstract way by using canted angles.

Pitch Evaluation
After my presentation, the feedback i got from my pitch was to add more emphasis to the notebooks because a lot our classmates wanted to know what that was about. They also wanted the pacing of the film to be faster because it was kind of slow to them. The final point was for us to add ominous music at the end because that would bring up the thriller theme even more.

Film Locations
We went out to scout the canal further to get a better understanding of the area and to finalise the shots that we are going to use. While looking we found possibly more subtitle locations to film.

Pitch Evaluation
I think that the pitch was good in terms of information and presenting our ideas. However i think that we should have planned better and thought about it more.
If we were to do the pitch again I would change how we presented our ideas and make it more informative and visual to get people attention.

THE PITCH 8 Sound Design by Alex Burford
Sound Design
The dietetic sound that we are going to use is footsteps and the sound of water flowing in the canal to give a sense of peace and quiet. The non-dietetic sound that we are using is going to be the birds chirping and music.
The use of the water sound effect is to help create an atmosphere of calm and that the investigator is in a good mood.
The sound of the birds is used to great tranquility and that there is peace and quite.

THE PITCH 7 Mise-en-scene Props, Costumes, Make up by Alex Burford
The costumes that we have chosen for the characters are a smart and casual outfit for the investigator as it is a typical outfit for someone with that job. The murderer will be wearing dark colours to show that he is different.

THE PITCH Task 3 By Shahzaib
Genre
We chose to do a Thriller title sequence because we all have an interest in this genre, some of our favourite films are from this genre, The Equalizer and Jurassic World. The Equalizer influences us because of the suspense and the story. Jurassic World influences us because of the build up and high paced action.
Film Title Sequences that have inspired us.
Collateral - This title sequence has influenced us because of the simplicity but obviousness of the good and bad character, we especially liked the slow-mo part of the title sequence to show who is the bad character, while the good character was walking at normal pace.
Se7en - This title sequence influenced us because even though you couldn't see the character that was writing, you already knew he was the bad guy. In the sequence we see the man picking up a book with his fingertips covered with plasters.
This shows that the character is creepy and that something is weird about him.
This is where we got the inspiration to use notebooks in the title sequence.
Catch Me If You Can - This title sequence influences us as it shows the character changing as he is being chased, following clues for the investigator to follow, which is where we got the idea for the investigator to be following clues left by the murderer to find him.

THE PITCH task 2 by Shahzaib
Pitch Task 2
We intend to have titles on screen as it is meant to leave the audience on a cliff hanger. We want to leave the title sequence at a cliff hanger as it would add to the tension and suspense which is usual in a thriller title sequence. We want to use titles on screen as we do not want to give too much information away and we don't want the audience to see some of the character.
COLLATERAL - this sequence influenced us because of the obviousness of the good and bad character, also the part in the sequence where the men pick up each others briefcases by accident.
THE STEPFATHER - This influences us because of how we saw the character change as it went along, also the slanted angel used to show that the boy was dead and not sleeping.
We intend to conform to the convention of our title sequence(Thriller).

THE PITCH TASK 1 by Shahzaib
Pitch Task 1
Our Title
RECALL, JUST ONE MORE(possible film names) - We want to call it either of these as they would both fit nicely with what the film is about.
Our film is about a mysterious murder, someone is killed for reasons unknown to the audience and there is a investigator who is following a clue left by the murderer.
In the title sequence we see the investigator and murderer bump into each other. They are both holding a book that looks similar and they pick up each others after dropping them. The book has clues for the investigator to follow but the audience do not see the murderer's face or the clues in the book.
Costumes, Props and location
Costumes
For our actors
They will be wearing casual smart for the investigator and all dark for the villain.
Props
The only props we will use are blue books for each actor.
Location
We will be filming at regents canal as it has the vibe we want for our film and is also close by.

Feedback
Take the unnecessary parts like the removing of jackets and gloves, don't show the investigator going to the body, end the sequence with the investigator on the bench opening the journal to the first page and it cutting there.
Film Idea
- Starts off with shots of the area. Then we see a man is walking down the canal, then we see the murderer sitting down on the bench. Then we see the murderer and character(which is the investigator) bump into each other and both drop journals that look similar, and pick up the wrong one. Both characters are at different speeds during the sequence. The murderer walks off, and the investigator sits on a close by bench, looks through the journal, realises he took the wrong one and looks for the murderer, he cant find him then he looks through the journal to find a clue or phone number, he sees a plan to kill someone and where.

Individual idea for title sequence-Blog Post 24
My own individual idea for a title sequence would be in a remote area with the main character being shown into focus. He would be looking around the woods while the camera would be following him as well. After there would be a low angle shot looking up at him as he is walking through the woods. Multiple shots of him walking through the woods would be shown and then there would be a flashback in that same forest but him with a girl. The ending of the title sequence would show the girls dead body in the forest.
